Muhammad joined the PhD program (Accounting) at the DeGroote School of Business in September 2013. He is interested in the relation between accounting and capital markets. Specifically his current focus is on the relationship between investor sentiment and managerial motivations for earnings reporting decisions.

Before coming to McMaster, Muhammad was in academia as a teacher. Moreover, he was involved in the industry in a number of ways. As a trainer, he worked with the stock exchange, capital market institutes and asset management companies. In addition, he worked as an external consultant for several institutions including the World Bank. More recently, he was an independent director of a brokerage company. He has several publications in peer reviewed journals.
Certifications
Muhammad is a CFA charterholder and acted as a grader for CFA Level III examinations.
