Description
What started as an incubator focused on community-based sustainable entrepreneurship has become McMaster University’s newest research centre.
Join us Wednesday, May 1st from 10:00 am-12:00 pm for the launch of the Centre for Research on Community Oriented Entrepreneurship (CRCE).
Learn more about the exciting research and international community engagement leveraging digital innovation within the field of entrepreneurial support and training. The CRCE will extend the work of a virtual incubator, the Reframery, which strives to make entrepreneurship accessible to everyone. Beginning as a research initiative to help marginalized persons whose careers suffered during the pandemic, the work of the CRCE has now expanded to include newcomer and refugee communities from around the world.
Led by DeGroote School of Business Professor Benson Honig, the CRCE conducts interdisciplinary and partnership-based research that supports small and medium businesses often led by marginalized and/or minority entrepreneurs. The CRCE examines problems creatively and leverages constraints to foster innovative business solutions.
The launch event will include a presentation and conversation with members of the Office of the Vice President Research, the DeGroote Office of the Dean, the research team inclusive of students, and the center’s local and international network.
Complimentary light refreshments will be available. This in-person celebratory event will be held at the Phoenix Craft House and Grill from 10:00 am -12:00 pm. There is no cost however you are kindly asked to register here:
